The New South Wales Government owns a number of Government businesses, including State Owned Corporations. NSW Treasury monitors the performance of these businesses across the total state sector. Government businesses include entities that engage in commercial business activities.

The Commercial Assets team within Treasury acts as a representative for the shareholding Ministers to ensure that the State’s commercial government businesses are operating effectively and efficiently. We do this by setting the Commercial Policy Framework, monitoring the performance of entities in the portfolio, assisting with the appointment of directors to boards, and providing policy advice to the Ministers.

The Commercial Assets team also manages assets, liabilities and functions that remain with the State of New South Wales following major asset transactions.
