State Infrastructure Strategy (SIS)
The State Infrastructure Strategy links the four year capital Budget contained in the Infrastructure Statement (Budget Paper No. 4) with the 25 year long term planning strategies, like the Metropolitan Strategy.
The State Infrastructure Strategy covers the State’s expenditure on capital assets over the next decade and sets out the strategy to manage public investment growth in line with funding sources. The Strategy also maps out the infrastructure to be provided in Sydney, the Central Coast, the Hunter, the Illawarra - South East, the North Coast and Inland New South Wales.
Demand for infrastructure will remain at very high levels over the next decade and is driven by: population growth, ageing & longevity, technological change, industrial & commercial developments, cost pressure, infrastructure renewal, and environmental issues.
The State Infrastructure Strategy will also assist in –
- managing the delivery of infrastructure by ensuring that it is based on needs as set out in other long term plans, agency Results and Services Plans or Statements of Business Intent.
- ensuring that infrastructure is delivered on time and on budget with a focus on sound preparation, including strong business cases, Gateway Reviews and a variety of procurement methods including Privately Financed Projects.
