Experts Group on Salinity

The New South Wales Government has established an Experts Group of leading financiers and economists to advise on market-based solutions to salinity problems.

The group's formation follows a recommendation at the March 2000 Salinity Summit held in Dubbo and is the basis of a new approach to salinity management.

The Experts Group had been given the task of developing basic structure and operational rules to enable pilot schemes for market-based solutions to salinity.

The Group will report back to the Premier in September 2000.

This web-site provides information on the Expert Groups' progress including a number of working papers that have been produced. The site also provides links to other National and State Government sites dealing with salinity.
