Project Description:
The Stadium Australia Project involves the following:
- Finance, plan, design, construct, and commission the stadium in its Olympic configuration, seating 110,000 people
- Make the stadium available for the Olympic Games, the Paralympic Games and other events
- Reconfigure the Stadium after the Paralympics to seat 80,000 people and
- Operate, maintain and repair the Stadium until 31 January 2031.
Current Status:
On 9 September 1996, the Government announced the commencement of work and the formal signing of Contract documents with Stadium Australia Group. Currently, the Stadium is used for major sporting and other events.
