There are several possible reasons why this occurs, generally revolving around your network environment, your network security policies and your operating system.
IF YOU ARE RUNNING WINDOWS NT 4 OR HIGHER
There is a known conflict in how NT does or does not allow sharing of ports. The introduction of SP4 made printer ports non-shared at the operating system level, as port 515 was marked for the sole use of the Windows system. Your IT section needs to make a small modification to your NT workstation to allow a different port (516) to be specified for SAP printing.
Please refer your IT section to the FIS Technical Support team (Ewen Bishop - 02 9228 3012 or Colin Huddy - 02 9228 4226) for explicit details.
IF YOU ARE RUNNING WINDOWS XP ON A NOVELL LAN WITH ZENWORKS AND YOUR DESKTOP IS "LOCKED"
When printing from TOES, a small program is started on your PC (SAPLPD.EXE) which receives the SAP print job, converts it to a Windows print stream and then hands it off to your default Windows printer driver for printing. During the conversion process, SAPLPD will attempt to write a temporary file, and some XP/Novell/Zenworks environments will not allow the temporary file to be created. As a consequence, the SAP print job cannot be converted to a Windows print job and therefore can't be printed. To rectify this requires a change to your access rights on your PC.

IF YOUR PRINTERS ARE LOCATED ON ANOTHER SEGMENT OF YOUR NETWORK
If everything else looks OK and you still can't print, it may be due to your network environment. If your printers are on a different netwrok segment and are accessed using a gateway, you will be unable to print. To rectify this requires either A) setting up direct IP printing (if your network environment allows for this) or B) installing a local printer.

IF YOU ARE USING A XEROX MULTIFUNCTION PRINTERS ON A NOVELL NETWORK
There is a known incompatibility between the Novell 4.10 network software and the Xerox gateway software used to configure the multi function printer. Please refer to the Xerox web site for further information.
