In August 2011, NSW hosted an Australian and New Zealand Expenditure Review Roundtable. A background paper for the Roundtable was prepared. This paper provides an overview of common approaches to expenditure review in Australia and New Zealand. Other international examples of approaches to reviews are also outlined, for example, egagement of the public in spending reviews and facilitating skill development in agencies.
In 2011, whole of government expenditure reviews are being undertaken on Purchasing Cards, the government’s car Fleet and on information and communications technology (ICT).
